There is No "B" in the Tahitian Language

The natives of the island called it Pora Pora.  The foreigners, like so many people, heard Bora Bora.  So, did they correct this? NO! You know how arrogant we people can be.  Forget what the local people say.  Our way is the only way, so to this day the island is called Bora Bora.

We shared this tiny island with passengers from 2 other and larger cruise ships so the island was
crowded.  Most of the Viking excursions were either on (or in) the water or by various types of vehicles to distant parts of the island.  We chose water.  Darrell went on a glass bottom boat to see the fish.

Bora Bora is beautiful, from its turquoise water over shallow area to the rugged mountains.  Its people are warm and welcoming, greeting us with a flower for our hair and a local musical group on the pier.

We are here in the hot season when most of the tourists come by ship and stay only a day or two, living on board. During the cooler season, tourists usually come by air and stay for at least a week.  One of the hotels has bungalows on man-made islands connected to the main part of the island.  Each bungalow has its own deck with a ladder down to the water.  They even have a hot tub with glass on 2 sides so you can enjoy the view while you soak.  Of course, passing boats can also enjoy the view.

Even the clouds are beautiful!
