2 Ports, Not much to Say

Puerto Chacabuco and Puerto Montt are two of our four stops in mainland Chile.  I do not have anything to say, nor do I have any pictures, of Puerto Chacabuco, because we were both under quarantine and not allowed to leave our cabin.  My cold developed into Influenza A with a touch of pneumonia.  Darrell had to stay in until they were sure he did not have either.  Those who did go ashore more than doubled the population of the town.

Darrell avoided getting sick, so he was able to get out in Puerto Montt.  Incidentally, I thought that the name meant "Port Mountain." Not so --  it is named after the ship captain who first landed there and established a town.  We had been to Puerto Montt and a neighboring town, Puerto Varas before, so Darrell did not take many pictures when he went on a short excursion.  Evidently he liked the flowers.

There is a large fluctuation between high and low tide in the bay where we docked.  What may look like toy boats abandoned on the beach are actually some of the brightly colored fishing boats, waiting for the returning tide to float them.
